Gymkhana — Join the Fun

Routt County Gymkhana Club is a family inclusive organization that exists to promote the sport of rodeo, encourage sportsmanship and camaraderie, and instill the importance of livestock care, while continuing to preserve the traditions of our Western Heritage.

The club hosts weekly events on Wednesday evenings at Romick Arena in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, throughout the summer, offering barrel racing, pole bending, stake race, and breakaway roping. This year our events will take place June 11, 18, 25, July 9, 16, 23, 30, and August 6.

Entry fees for gymkhana events are $10 per run for club members and $20 per run for all non-members. Club membership is $50.00 for the season. The membership fee will be waived if the member brings $200.00 or more in sponsors/donations for the club by the first event of the season.

As a family-friendly organization, we offer divisions for all ages:

Age groups are based on age as of January 1st of the current year. Assisted foals may be led on foot or ponied horseback. Unassisted foals compete without assistance inside the arena.

Please note: Due to time constraints, Stake Race is not offered to the Assisted Foals division.   

All contestants will compete in their age group for the fastest time. 70 percent of the total entry money received per event will be divided between the top 5 fastest contestants in each division, members and non members. Payouts will be given weekly.  

A point system for members will be kept for barrels, poles, and stake race combined for year end awards.

In addition, we offer exhibition runs for barrels and poles. Exhibition runs are $10 per run for club members and $20 per run for all non-members. Exhibition runs will start in the main arena at 5:30pm.
